IMED Social Club (NSS)

This activity sensitizes the students to social issues and imbibes on them the values that would benefit the society at large. The NSS organizes social activities in which the students actively participate. During the academic year 2006-2007, the NSS unit of the Institute has carried out various activities for the students as well as for the society.

Blood Donation Camp: On 17th Aug 2006 a Blood Donation Camp was organised in association with Bharati Hospital and Akshay Blood Bank, Pune. About 137 students of IMED actively participated in it and donated blood.

Red Ribbon Club Training Programme: NSS organized a university level one day ‘Red Ribbon Club Training Programme’ on AIDS awareness on 4th Oct 2006. Forty two volunteers from different colleges/ Institutes of Bharati Vidyapeeth University participated in this programme.

Inauguration & Orientation of the  NSS Volunteerswas held on 1st Aug.2007

Blood Donation Camp was organised on 20th Aug 2007, Birth Anniversary of the Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Shramadan at Parvati in which NSS volunteers cleaned the Parvati Hill area on 13th of Jan 2008, birthday of Hon’ble         Secretary of  Bharati Vidyapeeth Shri Vishwajit Kadam.

Special winter camp of our Institute for the academic year 2007-08 was held at Kondhanpur, Tal-Haweli, Dist.-Pune, from 22nd Feb. to 2nd March 2008. The major activities carried out during the winter camp are as follows:

  • Inauguration Ceremony: It was held at the hands of Dr. B.T. Lawani and the inaugural address was given by Dr. Nitin Nayak.
  • Survey of various problems of Villagers: A survey was conducted on various problems like Sanitation, family Planning, Higher Education, Sports facilities etc.
  • Shramadan Programme: This included tree plantation, cleaning of roads, cleaning of Z.P School campus, and temple premises of the village.
  • Rally on Social Awareness: With the help of school children our volunteers organized a rally in the village Kondhanpur & Awasarwadi for social awareness regarding family planning, energy conservation, AIDS awareness, importance of education, Akshay Prakash Yojana, safety precautions, Tree plantations, water management etc.

  • Trekking: The volunteers organised trekking of the Sinhagad Fort which is 10 kms away from Kondhanpur. 
  • Cultural Programme: The volunteers and school students actively participated in various cultural events such as street play, one act play, singing, mimicry, cultural dance etc.  for the entertainment & social awareness of villagers.  Prof.  Pradeep Atre, Ram Bandhu Antakshari winner , made a guest appearance at the event. The villagers & students enjoyed the programme.
  • The Valedictory function : The Valedictory function was held at 11.00am on Thursday 2nd March 2008 in the presence of dignitaries and the volunteers were appreciated for their efforts.
